Privacy Policy
How Lead Group Limited collects, uses and protects personal information through this website and in the course of providing engineering services.
Who we are
Lead Group Limited is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are a private limited company registered in Scotland, company number SC650289, with our registered office at 24 Potterhill Road, Glasgow G53 5RR.
For any question about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights set out below, contact us at contact@leadgroup.uk or write to us at 60 Tottenham Court Road, Office 1803, Fitzrovia, London W1T 2EW.
What we collect
When you enquire. Your name, email address, telephone number and whatever you tell us about your project. This comes from the contact form, from email, or from a telephone call.
When we work for you. Correspondence, site addresses, drawings and photographs, and the records needed to deliver and evidence the engineering. Where a site is a home, that address is personal data and is treated as such.
When you use the site. Analytics data about pages viewed, approximate location, device and referrer, collected only if you accept analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not collect special category data, and we ask that you do not send it to us.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
To answer your enquiry and prepare a fee proposal. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, being our interest and yours in responding to a request you made.
To deliver the work you appoint us for. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
To keep the records an engineer must keep, including calculations, drawings, correspondence and the evidence behind a signed-off design. Lawful basis: legal obligation, and legitimate interests including the defence of a professional negligence claim.
To understand how the site is used. Lawful basis: consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell it to anyone.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the suppliers who run parts of our service, each under a contract that restricts what they may do with it:
Vercel Inc. hosts this website and processes server logs.
Resend delivers the email generated by the contact form.
Google and Microsoft provide website analytics through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, only where you have consented.
We also share information where a project requires it, for example with your architect, contractor or Building Control body, and where the law requires us to.
Some of these suppliers process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are made under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become work: 24 months from the last contact, after which they are deleted.
Project records, calculations, drawings and correspondence: 15 years from completion. Structural work carries a long tail of liability, and the file is the evidence behind a design that somebody built and continues to occupy. Retaining it is how a question asked years later can be answered properly.
Analytics data: retained by the analytics provider under their own retention settings, currently 14 months.
When a retention period ends we delete the information or anonymise it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you; to have inaccurate information corrected; to have information erased; to restrict how we use it; to receive it in a portable format; and to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@leadgroup.uk. We will respond within one month.
Some rights are qualified. We may be unable to erase records we are required to keep in order to evidence a design, and we will tell you if that is the case and why.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Security
We hold personal data on access-controlled systems and restrict it to the people who need it to do the work. Our suppliers are chosen partly on the security they provide.
No system is completely secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will report it to the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours and tell you where the law requires it.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy when what we do with information changes, and at least annually. The date it was last reviewed is shown at the top of this page.
