Searching for a structural engineer near you? Lead Group provides structural engineering, surveys and checking for residential, commercial, civil and renewable-energy projects in every major city in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
One consultancy, nationwide.
We work as a service-area practice, so distance is rarely the issue, the engineering is. Desktop reports and calculations are delivered anywhere, and we attend site across the areas below. The Eurocodes we design to are the shared European standards, so we support projects across the UK.
The full structural remit, everywhere.
Every service we offer is available UK-wide. Choose a service to read more, or tell us your project and location.
Real structures, surveyed and engineered.

Common questions
Searching for a structural engineer near me?
If you have searched for a structural engineer near me, you have found one: Lead Group works across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Pick your city below or send your drawings, and we confirm the scope and the timescale.
Do you cover my area?
We work across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as a service-area practice. Desktop structural reports and calculations are delivered anywhere; for surveys and site inspections we attend the regions and cities listed on this page and beyond.
Is a local structural engineer better?
What matters is the engineering, the codes and the professional indemnity cover behind the report, not the postcode. Much structural work is done from drawings and survey data. Where a site visit is needed, we arrange it.
How do I get started from another city?
Send your drawings or describe the project and location through the contact form. We confirm what is involved, the deliverables and a realistic timescale.
How do I know a structural engineer is competent?
Ask three things. First, whether the design is checked and signed by a Chartered Structural Engineer, because chartership is held by a person rather than by a company and the checking step is what stands behind the drawing. Second, what professional indemnity cover sits behind the report and for what amount. Third, which codes the design is to: current UK work is designed to the Eurocodes and their UK National Annexes, not to superseded British Standards. Any practice should answer all three without hesitation.
What is included in a structural calculation package?
A calculation package sets out the loads taken, the members sized to carry them and the checks that prove it. Typically that is the load take-down, the beam, lintel or column design with the section sizes stated, bearing and padstone details, connection and fixing checks where they govern, foundation design where the load path reaches the ground, and a drawing showing where each member goes. It is prepared so Building Control can follow the reasoning rather than take it on trust, and it states its own assumptions and limitations so the builder knows what was and was not designed.
