Boturich Drive: ground floor alteration with attic and roof works
A whole-house project combining ground floor structural alteration with attic conversion and roof profile changes, issued as a coordinated set.
What the project needed.
Alterations at ground floor combined with work in the attic and changes to the roof profile, which means the load path changes at both ends of the building at once.
Work carried out
- Location and block plan
- Existing ground floor plan
- Proposed ground floor plan
- Proposed attic, roof plan and roof profiles
- Existing and proposed sections
- General specification and structural notes
What boturich drive actually involves.
Combining a ground floor alteration with attic works is more involved than either on its own. Opening up at ground floor changes what carries load downward; converting the attic adds load at the top and often changes the roof structure that was providing restraint. Designing them separately risks each solution assuming the other did not happen.
Sections showing both existing and proposed conditions were issued because on a project changing at multiple levels, plans alone do not show how the load path resolves vertically.
The set was completed with a general specification and structural notes sheet, which is what allows a builder to work from the drawings without querying every material and fixing decision.
